Description

You may have heard about Hunter Moore - the most hated man on the internet. He figured out how to make the worst people on the internet even worse. This performance is about the opposite - how to make the best engineer on the team even better. Why “hated” then? Because typically engineers don’t enjoy this much. In this talk, I’m sharing my 15y experience of leadership with a focus on the topic that’s most important to me - how to grow new leaders. The talk as such is not technical but it’s about engineers’ growth and knowledge workers’ environment. The agenda: * there’s a stereotype that engineers can’t be leaders, the blue-collar. I’m one of them * the OCEAN is breaking that stereotype and I’m one of the examples * every successful company starts with the A-team * the problems start when we want to scale the A-team. Hiring team leaders who understand what engineers do and are good leaders in one person is very hard. * I’m using a self-developed framework which turns engineers into successful IT leaders. * It talks about 6 ingredients (skills) of an IT leader and gives a few practices on how to foster them

The talk can expand into a workshop: https://www.papercall.io/talks/242501
