Bio
Tim Janus is a software engineer by heart. He worked on various software projects and collaborates with engineering-focused companies. There his work accelerates simulation and optimization among others by the application of distributed systems with Kubernetes.
After his computer science studies, he worked at research projects at TU Dortmund University, where he developed a C++ framework optimizing chemical plants with commercial process simulators. In 2021 he started to learn Rust and in 2023 decided to make a career shift to work more with the promising Rust ecosystem. Tim is driven to comprehend complex systems and create accessible tools and interfaces.
He is also the host of the Rust Dortmund Meetup, a regular at the Rust and C++ Dragons online meetup, creator of the Video Series Pragmatic Rust for Engineers, he is an active member of TU Dortmund’s Bio/Chemical Engineering Alumnis and VDI (Club of German Engineers), and draws inspiration from mankind’s achievements in diverse engineering fields.
In his leisure time, Tim enjoys sport like swimming, running, and bicycling. His favorite computer game are Factorio and Dragon Age Origins to name a few.
