We explore how AI/AR went from science fiction to advanced technology that ran exclusively on supercomputers and now running in everyone’s pockets because of the ubiquitous distribution of powerful smartphones.
Description
Why is science fiction so important to science? Could we say science fiction is paving the way for the future scientist? We start by looking at the link between imagination and reality by exploring how they are related. We explore the history of Augmented Reality(AR) and Artificial Intelligence(AI) went from science fiction to becoming mainstream today. One of the main catalysts fueling the growth was Android and iOS having AR/AI frameworks shipping in their phones.
We start with what is AR and why it is considered the next big thing in tech by exploring the history and some mind-bending demos. After building a solid understanding of the what and why we start diving into the how. We will explore how to build an AR app with ARCore2 using Sceneform.
Next, we explain what is Machine Learning and how it is being used on mobile with TensorFlow (Keras). We will cover how ML works, how you build ML apps on mobile and what applications are being built to solve various problems. We end by examining how future advancements could evolve mobile devices.
The hope is that after attending these sections the audience would expand their imagination regarding the future of expanding technology on mobile.
