Bio
I am a professor (Reader) at Imperial College London, UK. Though I hold a PhD in Earth Sciences, I use programming and computer simulations in my research in order to answer questions related to Earth systems processes. My interests range from machine learning, the chemistry of the Earth, to numerical simulations of carbonate reefs and their response to sea-level changes and climate change.
Throughout the years, I have had the opportunity to develop scientific code in C, Objective-C, MATLAB, Python, Java and now Scala. I love Scala because of the clean syntax, and the seamless marriage of the functional and OOP paradigms. When not teaching, conducting research or programming, I enjoy hiking with my family and my dog, reading a good book, or travelling.
