I am a mathematician, an enthusiast of breaking down large problems into smaller ones. For me, mathematics is a tool that, along with computing, allows us to design new concepts of life as we know it. I am from the city of Popayán, where, along with a group of university classmates, we built a credit scoring system to contribute to the democratization of financing for small and medium loans in the region, and we managed to sell it to three companies in the area. After that, I worked as a data scientist for Falabella, and I am currently a data scientist for Mercado Libre, where I just completed my first year. In my brief time in data science, I have worked in NLP and computer vision. I have promoted mathematics and enjoy reaching out to find new problems to apply them to, making them tangible through software tools. I like to think that the best-designed technological tool is one that can encapsulate the complexity of algorithms and lines of code into something simple and useful for people, achieving that ‘magic of intuitive connection’ when you feel that an intelligent tool meets your needs.”
