CFP Description

Speaker Information

We welcome experienced speakers from around the world who are eager to share their expertise and knowledge. We value the time and investment of our attendees, and therefore, we do not typically accept proposals from first-time speakers unless they have significant experience speaking at developer meetups.

General Rules

We generally prefer to receive one proposal per speaker. If you have burning ideas, sending a maximum of 2 proposals is fine. If you submit more than two proposals, we will unfortunately reject all the talks without reviewing them. This is to give everyone a fair chance.

Type of Submissions

You may submit proposals for:

  • Main Talks (25-30 minutes)

Topics We Are Looking For

We seek proposals in the following areas (but are open to other relevant topics):

  • Practical Experiences: Share experiences that have significantly improved productivity or efficiency.
  • Open-Source Tools: Deep dives into open-source tools used in your apps to solve specific problems.
  • Engineering Solutions: Discuss critical engineering problems and the steps taken to address them.
  • Performance Optimization: Techniques and best practices for improving app performance.
  • Debugging Techniques: Advanced debugging strategies and tools for Swift and iOS.
  • Advanced UI Topics: Creating complex and innovative user interfaces.
  • Developer Build and Deployment Enhancements: Streamlining the build and deployment process.
  • Security: Implementing and managing security within iOS applications.
  • Machine Learning: Integrating machine learning into iOS apps.
  • SwiftUI: Advanced usage of SwiftUI for building user interfaces.
  • Concurrency: Effective use of concurrency in Swift to improve app performance.

Topics to Avoid

  • Cross-Platform Technologies: No talks on ReactNative or other cross-platform technologies.
  • Introductory Content: Avoid 101 or basic “how-to” topics.
  • Redundant Content: No exact copies of WWDC talks.
  • Design/Product-Specific Talks: Avoid design or product-specific content.
  • Unproven Architectures: Architecture talks are only welcomed if you have substantial experience with them on a large scale.
  • Commercial Talks: No talks aimed at selling courses.
  • Product/Service Advertisements: We discourage advertising products or services during your talk. Mentioning products/services is only allowed as examples or if they are widely recognized and used in engineering (e.g., tools from Spotify, Meta, Uber, etc.). You may briefly mention your company during your introduction (up to 1 minute).
  • Sponsored Talks: We do not consider any sponsored talks.

Proposal Submission

Essential Details:

  • Context: Provide a clear context for your talk, including the initial problem, solutions tried, and the final chosen solution.
  • Key Takeaways: Describe the technical and practical key takeaways attendees will learn from your talk.
  • Speaker Experience: If you are a first-time conference speaker, include a video sample of a previous meetup talk.
  • Sample Project: Indicate if there is a sample project or code you will reference in your talk.

Additional Logistics

  • Accommodation: We will provide accommodation for 3 nights for speakers.
  • Travel Sponsorship: Please note that no travel sponsorship is available.
