Flowcon is a conference held in Paris on December 12th and 13th. Our (between 350 and 500) attendees are people interested to learn more about Agile, Kanban, Product, Software craftsmanship, DDD, Adaptative organizations, Lean Start Up, UX, … whatever practices than can help to get a better flow of outcomes and outputs. We tend to focus more on new learning rather than awareness.
We favor as much as we can interactions between all attendees. For example, we have a open room for unplanned sessions. By the way, we also have a chit chat room and a quiet room.
THIS IS NOT A CALL FOR PAPER, BUT A CALL FOR PROPOSAL. That means that you can still make a suggestion for you as speaker or ask us to contact someone to come.
Our tagline is ‘Everyone can learn something’. So feel free to propose any beginner/advanced session that you feel attendees can learn something from.
What we are our main themes ?
Flow & Value : Deliver the right product at the right pace People & Systems : Create organizations that unleashed people potential Improve & Learn : Get feedback and adapt Out of the box : crazy, silly, freaky ideas. Or not ;) Ceci n’est pas un appel à orateurs, mais un appel à propositions. Cela signifie que vous pouvez proposer vos sessions, mais aussi que vous pouvez nous suggérer des orateurs que vous voudriez voir.
CFP Description
THIS IS NOT A CALL FOR PAPER, BUT A CALL FOR PROPOSAL. That means that you can still make a suggestion for you as speaker or ask us to contact someone to come.
We got 4 tracks : 2 in english and 2 in french 3 rooms will be recorded and the videos will then be available on infoQ.
Our selection process is mainly based on our vision of the conference. We try to talk about various topics, at advanced level for well known topics and at awareness level for new topics. The question we need to answer is : “What will the attendees learn ?” If we are not able to answer, we got a problem. We are more than open to out of the box session.
We cover expenses for foreign speakers and sometimes a little bit more. We are a non profit organization, so we do our best with our budget. Speakers have free conference access. To be transparent, our budget for speakers is 20kEur and we use the CFP for only a third of the sessions. We make some direct contact for other speakers. That means that if you come from Europe, covering expenses will be possible even if your session didn’t match perfectly our main topic : the flow. If you come from outside of Europe, your session has to match the heart of the conference. So if you don’t know who we are and you have not heard about the conference before, that’s not a good idea to make a proposal. Last year, we got a lot of proposals from all over the world about javascript frameworks, release automation tooling, scrum for newbies, … and a lot of sessions already discussed during previous conferences. 90% of them were only spam for us. Last year program is available there : https://flowcon.sched.com/
CFP update after 14 proposals for flowcon 2019 : Unfortunately, we still receive too many proposals not compliant with our CFP description. papercall is overloaded by spam and we can’t use it anymore to manage the CFP. SO PLEASE JUST SEND US AN EMAIL (contact at flowcon.fr) WITH A TITLE, A DESCRIPTION AND WHO YOU ARE. Let’s try an easy way and thank you for reading the CFP description.
We try to organize workshops after the conference with well known speakers (need to find some people to attend it).
