About EuRuKo
EuRuKo is Europe’s premier annual Ruby conference, bringing together developers, innovators, and industry leaders to share knowledge, inspire creativity, and strengthen the vibrant Ruby community. With a tradition dating back to 2003, EuRuKo is entirely community-organized and moves to a different European city each year. In 2025, we’re excited to welcome the Ruby community to the coastal city of Viana do Castelo, north of Portugal.
CFP Description
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking engaging and inspiring talks that showcase the power, elegance, and versatility of Ruby. We have space for 12 talks (30 min) in our single-track format and 3 workshops (75 min or 2 hours).
Focus Areas for 2025
This year, at EuRuKo 2025 The Heart of Code, in Viana do Castelo, we’re particularly interested in talks that highlight:- Ruby 3.x Evolution: Exploring the latest features, performance improvements, and syntax changes in Ruby 3.x.
- Ruby Ecosystem: Developments in gems, frameworks, testing strategies, and tooling that enhance the Ruby developer experience.
- Ruby in Production: Real-world case studies of Ruby applications at scale, including performance optimizations, architectural decisions, and lessons learned.
- Ruby for Small Teams: How Ruby empowers small teams and solo developers to build impressive applications with limited resources.
- Ruby & Modern Tech: Ruby’s integration with emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, WebAssembly, and edge computing.
- Community & Culture: Discussions about nurturing the Ruby community, mentorship, documentation, and making Ruby more accessible to newcomers.
We welcome proposals that challenge conventional thinking, offer fresh perspectives, or delve deep into technical implementations. Both experienced speakers and first-time presenters are encouraged to submit.
Selection Process
Proposals will be reviewed by a diverse committee of Ruby community members. Selection will be based on:
- Technical depth and accuracy
- Relevance to the Ruby community
- Originality of content
- Clarity of proposal
We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive lineup that represents the breadth of the Ruby community. We encourage submissions from underrepresented groups in tech and will strive to ensure our selection process minimizes implicit biases.
Speaker Benefits
We will offer accommodation, tickets and other benefits. More information available on the next step.
